As the sun-soaked leisure of summer wanes and the buzz of classrooms and offices returns, you can feel the change in the air. The advent of fall signifies more than the frenzy of schedules and Target runs – it’s an opportunity for fresh starts and renewed focus for our own personal evolution. You see, New Year’s doesn't have a monopoly on goal setting. I see the back-to-school season as another chance to dream big, recalibrate, and reinforce my north star.
And what about you? How do you embrace the fall season? Are you gearing up to push your life forward in the coming months?
On the professional front, what skills have you been yearning to acquire or sharpen? Is there a digital tool you're eager to master? Perhaps you want to attend a workshop that has piqued your interest, or a conference that could help expand your network?
Recently, I’ve done a deep dive into the world of food service to explore potential new distribution channels for Pizzana beyond the four walls of our restaurants. I’m also re-reading a classic book “Venture Deals” to cement my technical insights on investing. Stepping into unfamiliar territory and feeling like a novice can be challenging, but the growth that comes is invaluable. Remember, self-investment invariably yields rich returns — for you and those who rely on you.
And personal goals matter just as much. After a year of launching "Sweet Success" and expanding Pizzana, I've made a pact: Self-care won't be relegated to the sidelines anymore. As I approach a significant milestone (50 - eek!) it's clear that some of my past habits need a revamp. Nutrition, for one, has taken the spotlight. With a craving for more protein, I've caught the unexpected TikTok fever around cottage cheese. (Believe it or not, it's the new sensation – a prime example of how a makeover can breathe life into a classic.) Gen Z's enthusiasm for its health perks have taken TikTok by storm. By the way, Bethenny Frankel has an entire breakdown of cottage cheese varieties, in case you're curious. These days, every morning kicks off with a serving of Good Culture 2% cottage cheese, turbocharging my daily protein intake.
On the physical fitness front, while I had a fantastic summer of hiking and embracing the great outdoors, I've recognized a growing need to integrate strength training into my regimen. This is about more than muscle-building; it's stoking my metabolism's fading embers. I've turned to the expertise of Kadee Sweeney. Not only is Kadee a powerhouse trainer, but she's also leveraged technology to bring her workouts to the fingertips of many through her fabulous app, KadeeFit. On days when our schedules don't align, this app becomes my personal gym companion. If you're in the market for an effective and flexible workout regime, I can't recommend her app highly enough! When we feel our best, everything just hits differently. The physical strength you feel lends itself to a mental fortitude and resilience that keeps you steady when the challenges inevitably come.
Amid aspirations and pursuits, let's not misplace the essence of existence: joy. For me, pickleball has become a weekly staple, sparking Sunday afternoons with friends. Infusing delight and energy into your routine can work wonders. Whether through a newfound hobby, weekend escape, or sweet family moments, embrace the joy that enriches life.
Speaking of family, involve them in your journey. A recent kitchen drawer clean-out revealed my 12-year-old's past New Year’s resolution list. Among them was the goal to conquer a black diamond slope while snowboarding. Today, not only does he master double black diamonds with ease, but the sheer joy and pride I witnessed on his face upon realizing he had surpassed his goals was priceless. Documenting goals fuels reflections on our progress. Past triumphs kindle our future ambitions.
So, embrace this season not just as a transition but as a springboard. A period to redefine aspirations, to foster growth, and to weave in joyful moments. Share one of your autumn ambitions, big or small…

I love the Fall for a reset too! (and I also love cottage cheese ;) )
